This year is moving so fast. Fall has come and I just celebrated another year around the sun. This is the best time ever to be alive and I thank you for joining me making a difference in the world.
I know we can't be everywhere for everything, but you might want to know about some of the events that rocked just this past summer. (The events might not be in order)

RAJ 14 was held at the beautiful Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills, CA. This year we loaded everything into a jam-packed, joy-filled, one-day explosion of love! Approximately3,200 people came to RAJ 14, and left inspired, full, and satisfied.
Why? To name a few exceptional things: 1) extraordinary musicians, dancers, artists and even the RAJ All-Stars parade that included children and elders alike; 2) the Roll with it Flow with It Fashion Show that featured fashion apparel for folks who can’t always find cool stuff to wear (folks like war-veterans who have suffered major trauma to the body and are in wheelchairs or wear prosthetics, and others who strutted the catwalk especially built for them). They were included, they were beautiful and they were HOT in that 100-degree weather, Lol!!!
line-up of performing artists included: Panache Desai aka MC- IAM, Eric Benet,
Jami Lula, Charles Holt, the Nailah Porter Ensemble, Daveon Overton, Faith
Rivera, Ali Stroker, Dani Shay, DJ Shiva, Afro-Blues Tribe of Joseph, the Kev
Choice Ensemble, Luc and the Lovington’s with the Agape Youth Choir, Movement
of Agape, The Promise Band, the Agape House Band and the Agape International
Choir, and of course I got to sing a lil bit, too!
Fifty vendors on
the leading edge of holistic healing, sustainable living, artistic
rehabilitation, health and fitness, conscious vegan food, medicinal herbs,
fashion and design, and so much more offered alternatives to living. People
were informed and encouraged to try new foods; to participate in Yoga classes
or to drum with the Drum Circle; and, in general, to ask deeper questions about
how we may live a more wholesome, happier and healthier life. Folks loved that
food court with the free samples of kombucha!
The Santa Ana
winds of last year’s RAJ 13 were replaced with HEAT! It was beautiful to see
perfect strangers share blankets on the ground, shade tents, food, and cool
drinks of water. RAJ 14 truly embraced oneness. And lots of folks who entered
the festival as strangers made friends with each other. It was a truly
RAJ 14 was a success in every way
imaginable. And we cannot wait to do it again! Soooo….

Kuumba-In-Motion: Fun Under the Sun Summer Camp Round-up
It never ceases to
amaze me how children flourish when they are given the space and the freedom to
express who they are. Our summer camp came back this past summer for its third
year, and we truly out-did ourselves! Our guides and over 30 children took Los
Angeles by storm as we spread our Kuumba love everywhere we went. Our travels
included the Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple in Hacienda Heights, Big Heart Ranch in
Malibu, The Gentle Barn, Will Rogers State Beach, LACMA, California Science
Center, Underwood Family Farm, Farmers Market, Bowling, The Getty, The Train Museum,
The Arboretum, Venice Beach Boardwalk, the Lake Shrine, Grammy Museum, The
Annenberg Space for Photography, and more which all culminated in a slamming pool
party. We rocked so hard and our kids were sad to see our camp come to an end…
We have something
really big in the making. This is a very exciting time for Kuumba-In-Motion. We
are setting "in motion" and planting the seeds that will become the
Kuumba Kuumba Shule (in the Swahili language, “shule” means school and “Kuumba”
Imagine…. a school
where a child gets individual attention because class sizes are smaller and
will allow for that; where curriculum is not limited (to Readin’, Writin’, and ‘Rithmetic)
but where the study of how a community could work together to achieve a common
good is the aim; where activism, dance, music, kinesiology, nutrition, and
whatever else a child may want to learn is the focus. Kuumba is a place where
the unique voice of every child is heard and revered.
For the last 5 years
we have successfully engaged in projects that now bring us to the next phase of
our emergence. We intend to open Kuumba Shule in September 2015. We are
inspired and invite you to be a part of our vision.
How can you help? We
want your input! We are looking for funders, grantwriters, families that want
to attend, educators, administrators, or just your brilliant ideas.

The Awakened World Film Festival Oct. 27-30, 2014
AGNT’s debut Awakened
World Film Festival in Santa Barbara was an amazing success. What a beautiful
event! I watched many films made by individuals who have put their necks on the
line in order to produce meaningful films. I left better than I came. I also
had the honor of receiving the 2014 Barbara Field’s Peace Award for my work in
the world. It’s an interesting thing to hear one’s journey reflected back to
oneself. I am grateful for all the ways that what I do touches the lives of
others. And as long as I can, I will keep on striving to be the peace wherever
