The Agape International Choir is Walking In a New Understanding. Inspiring the spirit of freedom and unity with All, the Choir energizes and transforms audiences with electrifying performances that remind us: when we are motivated by love and act from it, we can achieve anything.

Through A Cappella Prayer and Rousing Rhythmic Celebration, the Agape Choir unites audiences in joy while they are dancing in the aisles. Special guest singers have included John Legend, Will.I.Am, Stevie Wonder, Niki Haris Brenda Marie Eager, and  Tim McAfee-Lewis.  Backed by some of the most accomplished musicians from Los Angeles and beyond, the Agape Choir is heard daily throughout North America, Europe, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, India – and all places in between.

Agape Choir Director Rickie Byars Beckwith, with her husband,Rev. Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith, founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center in Culver City, CA, envision the Choir as a vehicle that delivers transformational healing through the power of music. In 2007, Tim McAfee-Lewis joined the Choir as assistant choir director. Together with 200 harmonic voices, The Agape International Choir will help you believe in a world that works for everyone.

Agape International Biographical Facts

Formed in 1988, the Agape International Choir features 200 singers who perform with an incredible roster of musicians under the direction of Rickie Byars Beckwith. The Choir is honored to have appeared in numerous television, film, and benefit performances that celebrate life and unity that make the world a better place.

“Live” performances include Lincoln Center, the United Nations, the Hollywood Bowl, Gibson Amphitheatre, the John Anson Ford Theatre, UCLA’s Royce Hall, Dodger Stadium, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, the 2008 Democration National Convention, the 2008 U.S. Presidential Neighborhood Ball, and the 2008 U.S. Presidential Om Ball.

In the Summer of 2007, the Choir headlined the Santa Monica Pier “Twilight Dance” Music Series, performing before Arrested Development.  The recording-breaking attendance brought included a combined audience of 20,000 people. In 2008, Rickie and the Choir performed on John Legend's new album, "Evolver," singing on the widely acclaimed call-to-action anthem, "If You're Out There."  Later that year, Rickie and the Choir joined John Legend for the the Grand Finale of the internationally broadcast television tribute program, CNN Hereos.  In 2009, the Choir performed with Grammy Award-winner Will.I.Am on Oprah's Inauguration Special from Washington D.C.

The Agape International Choir is the core music ministry of the Agape International Spiritual Center, founded by Rev. Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith.
